Important checklist for renting cars
By following this checklist you'll maximize your protection from being unfairly charged for pre-existing damages and ensure a safe and pleasant rental experience.
Make sure to review rental documents:
- Rental agreement
- Insurance policy
- Contact information in case of emergency
Inspect exterior and note existing damages:
- Scratches, dents, rust etc.
- Cracks or chips on windshield or windows
- Check tires and wheels for any signs of damage
Inspect interior of the car:
- Check that the interior is clean and has no odors
- Test car controls, such as air conditioning, heating, radio and GPS
- Ensure that dashboard does not show any warning signs
Document current car condition:
- Use your smartphone to take photos or a video of the car's condition before leaving the lot
